JAKOBS CASTLE LIVE!! | CATS CRADLE

Jakob’s Castle is founded by Jakob Nowell. Jakob Nowell is not new to the music scene as he has been around music as well as incredible musicians his entire life. Jakob is the son of legendary singer Bradley Nowell of the band Sublime. Bradley, Jakobs father, tragically passed away of a heroin overdose at the age of 26 in 1996 while the band Sublime was on tour. I remember hearing about his passing when I was in high school and was heartbroken. I thought the band Sublime was awesome, they blended reggae and ska with pinches of punk to create their signature sound.

Jakob, himself, is making a name in music through his inventive writing and very fun stage presence. He even worked with another legendary punk writer and performer Tim Armstrong of Rancid and Operation Ivy. Jakob started his career in music by forming the band LAW and was the bands lead singer until they disbanded in 2021. Jackob has now formed Jakob’s Castle and it was also just recently announced that he will take the rains as the new lead singer for none other than the band, Sublime. I can only imagine how it will feel for him to be standing on stage signing the same songs his father once sang to millions of music fans around the world. It brings this incredible journey full circle and I look forward to seeing him perform with Sublime.

Now onto the show!

Jakobs Castle was a fun and energized duo to watch. Jakob was the singer; guitarist and they had a computer (robot as he called it) play bass for them. I am having a brain fart on what Jakob called the computer, but it was funny. Jakob not only brough his comedic sense to the performance but also his unwavering energy. Jakob engaged the crowd and would jump up and down on stage during each song. He sounded great and the music was fun to listen to. After he was done with his set, a friend of Jakobs walked on stage and handed him what looked like either a CD or piece of paper. You could see he was then informed it was a young girl who wanted his autograph and wanted to meet him. Jakob without hesitation got down to the front of the stage, found the young girl, signed an autograph for her and took a picture with her as well. It was a great moment to see, and the young lady was so excited, and you could see it all over her face.

I really enjoyed Jakobs Castle performance and would recommend anyone to check them out. They are currently on tour supporting the legendary G. Love & Special Sauce during their 30th anniversary tour! Also, don’t forget to see him with Sublime as well!
